Everyone likes to get rowdy from time to time. If you’re suffering from the much-dreaded hangover, I’ve got the cure. My Hangover Burger is full of protein to get you over that hump. Eggs, bacon, cheese..it’s got it all!

Of course, you don’t have to be hungover to enjoy this treat. Serve it at your next BBQ or to impress a buddy or two. Either way, you’re in for a treat.

This delicious Hangover Burger is simple yet hearty. Heath Riles BBQ Everyday Rub gives the burger an exciting flavor profile without altering its natural flavors. Cooking burgers on the Traeger Flatrock Flat Top Grill keeps the process fun and easy. Try it for yourself!

The Ingredients

This Hangover Burger uses simple kitchen ingredients to create a beast of a meal! Here’s what you need to add to your shopping list.

  • Uncooked bacon, halved. The best burgers include bacon! I used uncooked bacon so I could use the leftover grease to toast the buns. Bacon adds just the right amount of salt and crunch.
  • American cheese. For this recipe, I used good American cheese. The end result was a gooey, cheesy burger with that classic down-home taste. You can substitute your favorite variety if you’re not an American cheese fan.
  • Eggs. Fried eggs give this burger a burst of flavor with every bite. It’s well worth the mess! The bun sops up some of the yolks, giving the Hangover Burger a little creaminess.
  • Ground beef. I used 80/20 ground beef, a good combination of fat and meat. You can use whatever ground beef you prefer. Grease helps your body get over hangovers, so don’t go too lean!
  • Heath Riles BBQ Everyday Rub. Forget the salt and pepper; grab a bottle of my famous AP rub. This seasoning elevates burgers, veggies, popcorn, and just about anything else. Once you try it, you’ll never be without it.
  • Bear & Burton’s W Sauce. This is the best Worcestershire sauce on the market! It’s made by good friends of mine and is based on their family recipe. I know you’ll love it as much as I do.

The Grill Setup

Here’s the main equipment I used for this recipe. More of my grilling favorites can be found in the Equipment and Tools section.

  • Flat Top Grill. I cooked these Hangover Burgers on the Traeger Flatrock Flat Top Grill. If you’re looking for a good flat top grill, try this one! It’s durable, and you can cook multiple things at once.. at different temperatures! This setup allows you to griddle, steam, and fry. It’s great for cooking lots of burgers at once.

The Process for Making Hangover Burgers

You can find a detailed demonstration of this recipe in the video and recipe card. For now, here’s a quick rundown of how I pulled this recipe together.

I knew it was time to flip the burgers when moisture came to the top. I let the burgers cook on the other side for 30-45 seconds, then added my cheese.

  • Prep the buns and eggs. Once the bacon was to my liking, I removed it from the grill. Then, I used the residual bacon grease to toast the buns. Last, I cracked some eggs into the grease and topped them with Heath Riles BBQ Everyday Rub. I cooked my eggs over-easy style, but you do you!
  • Assemble the burgers. To build the burgers, I put a smear of mayonnaise on the bun halves. Then, I added both burgers and topped them with egg and bacon. What a winning combo!

The Results

My Hangover Burgers lacked nothing. Texture, seasoning, flavor, this burger has it all. The egg added just the right amount of pizzazz. This burger is sure to cure whatever ails you!

Storing Leftovers

I recommend only making the burger patties and bacon in advance. You can store the meat in the fridge for up to 4 days or freeze it for up to 4 months.
