We’re making an old school spaghetti sandwich on the Blackstone. This is a sandwich I made all the time growing up. I’d take leftover spaghetti, put it on some bread, and put it on my sandwich press. I wanted to recreate a childhood classic. I took some of our leftover spaghetti from dinner the other night and turned it into one delicious sandwich! It’s fast, easy, and the perfect recipe to spice up some leftovers for that busy family dinner or game day get together. Messy, cheesy, delicious. 

The Ingredients:

A handful of ingredients is all you need to make this tasty dish. 

• Heath Riles Garlic Butter Rub. I took two of my favorite rubs to make this one, and boy did it turn out delicious. I mixed my Garlic Jalapeño Rub and Roasted Garlic Butter Blend together. A few shakes of this rub adds a savory, buttery taste that makes everything tastier. 
• Leftover spaghetti. If you have a bunch of leftovers from last night’s spaghetti night, dig them out of the fridge for this recipe. 
• Shredded cheese. Because, well, isn’t everything better with cheese on it?
• Loaf of French bread. Split it right down the middle. 
• Spray butter. Spray butter gives you more control over where the butter goes, so you get an even coat. 

The Equipment Setup:

I used a Blackstone for my spaghetti sandwich recipe. You could make it in a large skillet in a pinch. 

The Process for Making a Spaghetti Sandwich

Here’s what you need to know to make my tasty spaghetti sandwich. 

• Heat up the Blackstone. Get your Blackstone (or skillet) hot and ready to heat the spaghetti and toast the bread. 
• Prepare your bread. Cut a loaf of French bread into two pieces. Give each piece a good coating of spray butter. Then take the Heath Riles Garlic Butter Rub and shake it on the bread, on top of the butter. 
• Heat up your spaghetti. I poured my leftover spaghetti directly onto my Blackstone and let it heat up. Cover it to let it steam and help it stay moist. Once it’s warm, add your cheese on top of the spaghetti and let it melt. Mix it around to get the cheese mixed with the noodles and sauce. 
• Build the sandwich. Lay the bread on the Blackstone and add some cheese to both pieces. Scoop up your spaghetti and put it on one piece of the bread, then stack the other piece on top.
• Press it. I used a press on the top piece of bread to help all the ingredients melt together. 
• Remove. Slice. Serve. Pull that sandwich off your Blackstone, slice it up, and serve it to your hungry crew. Delicious!

The Results:

This is a couple cuts above the average sandwich, for sure. The bread was crispy, the spaghetti was cheesy and gooey, and the butter and my Garlic Butter Rub added spiciness and a savory taste to it. 

This recipe is perfect for your kids’ sleepover party, or anytime you need some warm comfort food. It’s so easy to make, you could even fix it on a random Tuesday just because you’re craving it!

The amount you make depends on how many leftovers you have. I made about 4 servings in my video. 

Storing It

If you have leftovers, wrap them in aluminum foil and put them in the fridge for a day or two. Reheat them in the microwave or on the stove.
